Men's Fashion/Culture/Lifestyle writer needed for freelance work

Hi there.

We are looking for a writer who can put out a few articles a month on men's fashion, culture and lifestyle - a "what's hot and edgy this month" sort of thing. The articles will appear exclusively on several membership websites, so they will not be viewable to the public.

There are some specific constraints here:

One of the articles will be on a site for college-age men. So that article will have to accommodate for the fact that college guys are fairly poor. Maybe the article will be more about hot new bands and musicians, interesting ways to wear American Eagle clothes (is that brand still even popular?) and other ways to be cool and "in" without having to spend a lot of dough.

The second article will be for a more mainstream/adult audience. Certainly, there will be some manhattanites in this group, but we have worldwide readership, so we'll have to be mindful not to get too caught up in the greatness that is NYC culture to the exclusion of what's going on elsewhere.

We'd expect 500-2000 words per article, and we're still up in the air about how the information should be presented. It could be in a "cool hunting" sort of way - in other words, a digest of ten or twenty cool new products, albums, or trends with a paragraph on each. Or it could be thematic every month i.e. picking one or two trends or ideas and breaking them down, why they're hot, etc.

We've never hired for this sort of position, so frankly, we're not sure how to handle compensation. Please let us know what you're thinking, and we'll be happy to discuss. And needless to say, please send a few writing samples.

We expect to get going on this around October 15. Looking forward to hearing from you.

- Jonathan

The Purse Page is seeking an amazing freelance fashion writer (Boston)

We are looking for a freelance fashion writer who lives in Boston and can write about primarily handbags, but there's also room to write about style, celebrity style, whats on sale, etc.

Would love someone who is ambitious and dedicated to write around 20 reviews a week or more. Reviews are pretty short, usually 6-8 sentences.

All work is done from your home so its an ideal freelance job. However down the road there will be opportunities for you to interview fashion and beauty professionals, so you do need to live in Boston. I also want someone who lives in Boston so I can meet with once in a while to touch base.

We want someone very knowledgeable who can teach the readers something they didn't know before. We love posts that educate people.

Ideally this writer can chat with the readers on the message board and on the blog comments to help build the community. He/She should be comfortable hanging out in fashion communities on MySpace or FaceBook and other large communities as a representative from the Purse Page to help spread the word about us. That's why we're looking for someone who lives and breathes fashion, so doing all of this writing will be fun for you.

We pay through PayPal so you get paid electronically and quickly.

This could be a fantastic part time job for a recent fashion grad, someone who works in high end retail, or a stay at home mom who is a fashion expert and wants to make some extra money from home writing about what she loves.

If youre interested please write in and tell us a little about yourself and your fashion experience. Full resume not necessary as this is just a part time freelance gig. Im more interested in your ability to write in a natural and interesting manner.

Freelance Medical Copywriter needed immediately

For a hospital website project, Articulate is seeking a medical copywriter to work with us on a freelance basis. The engagement will begin immediately and proceed full steam for the next month to two months. The audience is consumer, not medical, so the material must be easy for laypeople to understand; however, we are not looking for a pharma copywriter. We need someone who is used to doing research, interviewing doctors and patients, and writing clear, consistent copy that constitutes a marriage of textbook and marketing brochure.

The more web writing experience you have, the better: we need a writer who understands the specific requirements of writing for the web as opposed to other formats.

High quality goes without saying; quick turnaround is essential. There is a great deal of copy to produce, so we need someone who can get it, do it right, and do it fast. Please include a cover letter as well as a resume.

About Articulate:
Articulate is an innovative, full-service web development team that specializes in the unique needs of art, media, and educational institutions. We believe in simple, smart solutions that enhance the experience of a client's online visitors and in-house staff. The web presences we conceive, design, and build for clients such as the Guggenheim Museum and Conde Nast Publications are beautiful, informative, and easy to use. Equally as important, everything we create is designed to help clients better articulate their identity and purpose. Our name itself expresses this core mission.

Front-end Developer

(NYC or Anywhere) ejaeDesign, a growing interactive studio located in downtown Manhattan, is looking for an experienced front-end developer for a number of exciting projects currently in various stages of development to start immediately. Required skill sets are:

1) CSS/HTML skillset across major browsers (primary)
2) JavaScript and PHP experience

Besides the experience, we’re looking for someone who’ll be an integral part of our team for the future.

We work primarily with ExpressionEngine, so having experience in EE is a plus. Being close to NYC area is also a plus but not a requirement.

If you’re also bilingual in English and Korean please contact us. If you’re a recent grad in design and have some coding experience also let us know.

Apply: Please send a quick bio, hourly rate, and availability to freelance@ejaedesign.com.

Experienced HTML/CSS Coder (Anywhere)

So! Here's the plan. We've got a Mt Kosciuszko of HTML/CSS cut ups and ad hoc changes that need some love. It's easy, straightforward work but you'd be surprised how hard it is to find someone who can do this properly!

It's ongoing. Around 20 to 30 hours per week. It's bread and butter, and occasionally with sprinkles on top. You can rely on it.

We are happy to pay what you ask if you possess the following - diligence, intelligence, highly experienced, easy going with sense of humour, neurotic attention to detail, pro-active, forward planning, can meet deadlines... oh and you need to be REALLY REALLY good at HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT.

Simeon is a fabulous designer and Dennis is a brilliant PHP coder so you don't need to fill those shoes. It's great if you have more talents but the basics of HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT need to be covered, fully. Completely. And you need to be able to prove it. No beginners please.

Last time we advertised we received 400+ responses. I try to respond to everyone but this is not always possible. Please, please refrain from applying if you're going for 'pot luck'. It will save me time. No reply? No luck.

Job Perks

Work from anywhere, in your pyjamas. We do - Sydney, Toowoomba, Armidale, Barcelona, Lviv. And get paid on time, all the time. No hassles.

This is a test: Email katrina@motivemedia.com.au with 5 examples of recent work, your available hours, and your hourly rate, and a succinct pitch regarding your attention to detail....

Database Developer (Part-Time / Work-At-Home)

Skills:
Oracle, PL/SQL, software design and development, database design and development, Java

Description:
Database Developer (Part-Time / Work-At-Home)
Start Date: October 2008

Our company, Ecologic Leasing Services, is a financial services outsourcing company. Our clients are all Global 2000 companies. We are growing organically and we recently acquired our primary competitor in North America. We are looking to add someone to our talented engineering team. But it has to be the right person.

We need a mature software engineer with strong skills in database design and development, and expertise in Oracle PL/SQL, preferably with Oracle 9i. We have over 60KLOC of Oracle stored procedures that need refactoring and performance tuning, in addition to lots of ongoing new development. If you are familiar with financial calculations, basic accounting, and the time value of money, you are already a step ahead.

The right person must be comfortable functioning in the role of database developer, but willing to expand and grow beyond the traditional boundaries of just database development. Familiarity with Java is a must; we are a small company, and you will be working up and down the implementation chain. Opportunities abound; there is always work to be done, and the type of work changes often. We are looking for a team player; somebody who can quickly recognize and adapt to established standards and patterns; who can propose new approaches while recognizing and accepting that they may not always be accepted; and who can seamlessly adjust to the roles required by the task at hand. At times, you will be the thought leader, using your valuable knowledge and expertise to help us solve difficult problems. At other times, you will be the student, learning from your co-workers in order to complete your tasks.

Absolutely must work well independently under pressure in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment. Mentoring available. Interested and competent in collaborating with all staff members and clients virtually. Must be polished and professional and well spoken and written in English. Work from home. No dress code. 20 hours per week, with flex scheduling.

This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned software professional looking to balance quality of life and family time with the need to generate income, be productive, and feel a sense of accomplishment and participation.

Please do not apply if you do not meet ALL of the qualifications above.

Compensation range posted assumes a US or Canadian location (our preference). We will accept applications from other locations, but the compensation will adjust to fit the market and you must be available for at least 5 hours in the Eastern US time zone.

Travel required: rare -- once or twice per year for engineering team meetings

Health-Related Technical Writer Moonlight With Us!

Health-Related Technical Writer / Editor Experience Sought To Moonlight for the “Next Big Thing” in Science-Based Functional Beverages!

Soon to be released: Alpha Omega, will be amongst the first beverages to be able to claim that it is both “heart healthful and cancer fighting” as it provides therapeutic quantities of healthful ingredients which have been clinically shown to
• Lower Cholesterol
• Lower Triglycerides

• Fight Cancer by Absorbing Free Radicals

Alpha Omega has been formulated to deliver an extremely high ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) quotient. ORAC is a method of measuring antioxidant capacities of different foods. Alpha Omega also provides 100% of an Adult’s RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) of 18 of the 23 essential nutrients (vitamins and minerals), far more than any other beverage on the market. (This is not your watered-down Kool-Aid with a smattering of vitamins.) Alpha Omega provides more nutrients than most meal replacement beverages…and it also contains natural appetite suppressants, which when taken ½ hour before your meals, will help one eat less, and thereby lose weight.

Alpha Omega also contains adequate quantities of certain amino acids and phytonutrients to restore energy, re-build muscle and recover from strenuous activity… or even a traumatic event, such as a heart attack or stroke!

As you can see, we have a complicated story to tell…we’re looking for writers, versed in writing for healthcare trade journals, to take-on multiple freelance assignments, while we’re still in our start-up phase.

The company plans to soft-launch the product to medical and healthcare professionals before this year’s end.
