BNET Seeks Writer / Blogger to Cover Business Schools (Telecommute)

BNET, a business management-oriented news and information site owned by CBS Interactive with some 12 million page views monthly, is seeking a creative and energetic writer to cover business schools and MBA programs as part of its BNET Insights team of writer/bloggers. Experience in journalism and/or blogging is preferred, and the writer should hold an MBA. MBA program academics and former academics are also encouraged to apply. This is a paid, part-time position.

BNET Insights covers several different topical areas for an audience of management insiders and casual readers with an interest in how management works. Writer/bloggers are responsible for regular and engaging posts on the inner workings of their topic. Current topics include: executive issues, business ethics, sales, team and personal productivity, business books, public relations, and more.

The candidate for the “Back to B-School” blog should have considerable knowledge of, and an abiding interest in, business school education. The writer should be familiar with happenings in the various B-schools around the U.S., although knowledge of U.K. and Australia MBA programs is a definite plus.

The audience for the "Back to B-School" blog is business managers and executives who may not have attended B-school but who are interested in keeping up on the latest new concepts and lingo, as well as MBA-holders who want to stay au courant. "Back to B-School" will have an "insider" perspective on important happenings at the top programs, and offer a take on the most in-demand classes. Reportage will include short profiles of interesting MBA profs and their newest "big ideas." The writer should be able to explain "high-concept" ideas in practical terms that help the reader understand their relevance in the real world of business. The writer should also be editorially independent, with a unique voice and the ability to critique programs, profs, curricula, or jargon when called for. Lastly, the ideal candidate should have some understanding of how social media works.

If interested, please send a resume, any samples of blogging and reportage, as well as a statement of interest in the subject and what would be your unique take on it, plus a list of five possible “Back to B-School” blog post titles and descriptions to Michael Mattis, social media manager, BNET. But first, please check out our Insights blog content at: http://blogs.bnet.com, and the current “Back to B-School” blog at: http://blogs.bnet.com/mba/.
