Entry Level PHP or Java Telecommute Position

TrueShip is looking for entry level Software Developers to assist in the development of proprietary shipping solutions for the Mac and PC. TrueShip specializes in shipping software for use with many popular ecommerce, order management and accounting systems. www.trueship.com.

This job will open up interesting opportunities as we grow and expand into new markets. You will be trained and supported by our in-house staff as you get familiarized with our software.

Your primary responsibilities would be:

- Develop code in PHP and/or Java.
- Debug and fix problems in code developed by you or others.
- Write unit tests for important program components written by yourself or others.
- Work with Version Control (CVS) and Bug tracking systems.

Other responsibilities:

- Draft technical documentation as needed.

Required Skills:

- Proficiency with PHP and/or Java.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Ability to write clean, well documented Object Oriented code.
- Ability to integrate with a preexisting code base without the ability to change things to be 'your way'.
- Ability to work with other programmers over distance, i.e. by email and teleconferences.

Desired skills:

- Experience with HTML/CSS.
- Experience with SQL databases (MySQL).
- Ability to learn quickly.

B.S. in computer science or equivalent knowledge required. An in person job interview may be held in in San Jose, California.
