Gallo & Associates (www.gallo-law.com) / Ray E. Gallo seeks a truly excellent mid-level to senior contract associate for part/flex time work, principally brief writing. Our practice includes consumer class actions and business and employment litigation. We represent deserving, likeable clients in good causes (or we go home and spend time with our families).
The job has historically gone to Phi Beta Kappa types who graduated with honors from Top 5 law schools and were trained in excellent LA, SF or NYC big firms. It's a great job for moms who want part time work near home, or anyone who wants to telecommute (assuming you can get the work done that way). My experience is that lawying is actually very enjoyable once you get away from billing 2300 hours a year (which makes it oppressive), so just because you started to hate lawyering in a big firm doesn't mean you won't love the work we do if you're billing 1,000 hours a year instead.
The pay is good for small firm work. If you're super smart and a great writer, then this is a great gig for you--the issues are often cutting edge and many of our cases involve millions if not tens of millions of dollars (and occasionally more). The job offers great flexibility, subject to the needs of the clients and the practice: I don't care how, where, or when you get the work done as long as I have it when I need it. There will be no face time, no politics (you answer only to me), and minimal hassle. We have excellent technology in place to make all this easy.
I don't mind if you've been pursuing other avenues or have gaps in your resume, as long as you're ready to get back to competing on behalf of deserving clients, and as long as your resume shows a habit of success / winning.
I am an equal opportunity employer (I hire smart, whatever package it comes in).
Please send a resume and a persuasive writing sample. I look forward to hearing from all those who fit the profile and think this is the right job for them.
