Senior Accountant
This Atlanta Headquartered company is seeking a strong Senior Accountant.
The Senior Accountant is a new opening due to growth. This is a unique opportunity to work with a world class team of accounting professionals in an expanding department.
The Senior Accountant reports to the Vice President of Accounting and Reporting who is a CPA that is interested in mentoring the right candidate for succession planning.
The Senior Accountant
Job Purpose:
Supports financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data.
Duties:
* Prepares monthly statements by collecting data; analyzing and investigating variances; summarizing data, information, and trends.
* Prepares state quarterly and annual statements by assembling data.
* Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
* Provides financial advice by studying operational issues; applying financial principles and practices; developing recommendations.
* Prepares special reports by studying variances; preparing budgets; developing forecasts.
* Updates job knowledge by keeping current with financial regulations and accepted practices; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Accomplishes finance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

* Meets finance operational standards by contributing information to strategic financial plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
* Meets budget requirements by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
* Accomplishes accounting requirements by designing and maintaining accounting processes, including journal entries and general ledger, payroll, billing, collections, accounts payable, and accounts receivable; supervising bank reconcilitations and closing processes; supporting annual budget process; developing and maintaining forecasts and models; ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP);
* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging accounting practices; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
* Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
