Java developer w/ financial trans experience & RoR at NewCo in New York

Our NYC based company is looking for an experienced Java developer to build from scratch a software as a service transaction system. The system will have a customer back end written in Ruby for Rails with a front end in Java. You would be the lead developer on this project working with the functional designer to take a traditional local client server application and migrate it to a cloud based SaaS application.

The skill set and requirements you need to demonstrate:
-good communication skills
-system architect experience
-previous experience using Java and MySQL in a scaled application
-past history working on messaging for high volume transaction processing as well as database design for high volume transactions
-experience with embedded databases as well as database synchronization for scalable applications
-ability to set up the environments where your applications run i.e. some database admin skills and server understanding on Apache and MySQL
-GUI design skills or experience
-not required but huge PLUS: experience and a love for Ruby on Rails and cloud computing
-active participation in the open source community

The position is full time but if you are very qualified we would consider contract payment. Pay would be commensurate with your background. As a full time hire in the NYC area we will provide health care. We are willing to work with people outside the NYC area as long as you can demonstrate very good communication skills.
