Database Developer (Part-Time / Work-At-Home)
Start Date: October 2008
Our company, Ecologic Leasing Services, is a financial services outsourcing company. Our clients are all Global 2000 companies. We are growing organically and we recently acquired our primary competitor in North America. We are looking to add someone to our talented engineering team. But it has to be the right person.
We need a mature software engineer with strong skills in database design and development, and expertise in Oracle PL/SQL, preferably with Oracle 9i. We have over 60KLOC of Oracle stored procedures that need refactoring and performance tuning, in addition to lots of ongoing new development. If you are familiar with financial calculations, basic accounting, and the time value of money, you are already a step ahead.
The right person must be comfortable functioning in the role of database developer, but willing to expand and grow beyond the traditional boundaries of just database development. Familiarity with Java is a must; we are a small company, and you will be working up and down the implementation chain. Opportunities abound; there is always work to be done, and the type of work changes often. We are looking for a team player; somebody who can quickly recognize and adapt to established standards and patterns; who can propose new approaches while recognizing and accepting that they may not always be accepted; and who can seamlessly adjust to the roles required by the task at hand. At times, you will be the thought leader, using your valuable knowledge and expertise to help us solve difficult problems. At other times, you will be the student, learning from your co-workers in order to complete your tasks.
Absolutely must work well independently under pressure in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment. Mentoring available. Interested and competent in collaborating with all staff members and clients virtually. Must be polished and professional and well spoken and written in English. Work from home. No dress code. 20 hours per week, with flex scheduling.
