Men's Fashion/Culture/Lifestyle writer needed for freelance work

Hi there.

We are looking for a writer who can put out a few articles a month on men's fashion, culture and lifestyle - a "what's hot and edgy this month" sort of thing. The articles will appear exclusively on several membership websites, so they will not be viewable to the public.

There are some specific constraints here:

One of the articles will be on a site for college-age men. So that article will have to accommodate for the fact that college guys are fairly poor. Maybe the article will be more about hot new bands and musicians, interesting ways to wear American Eagle clothes (is that brand still even popular?) and other ways to be cool and "in" without having to spend a lot of dough.

The second article will be for a more mainstream/adult audience. Certainly, there will be some manhattanites in this group, but we have worldwide readership, so we'll have to be mindful not to get too caught up in the greatness that is NYC culture to the exclusion of what's going on elsewhere.

We'd expect 500-2000 words per article, and we're still up in the air about how the information should be presented. It could be in a "cool hunting" sort of way - in other words, a digest of ten or twenty cool new products, albums, or trends with a paragraph on each. Or it could be thematic every month i.e. picking one or two trends or ideas and breaking them down, why they're hot, etc.

We've never hired for this sort of position, so frankly, we're not sure how to handle compensation. Please let us know what you're thinking, and we'll be happy to discuss. And needless to say, please send a few writing samples.

We expect to get going on this around October 15. Looking forward to hearing from you.

- Jonathan
