Grant Writer (Contract Work)

The Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC) is interested in developing a directory of qualified grant writers who will work on an as-needed contract basis to prepare grant proposals and reports. FJC, a public foundation, is the only national organization dedicated to nonprofit Jewish resident camps, advancing program and leadership excellence in camps and access to vibrant Jewish experiences for campers. The Foundation helps raise awareness and support for Jewish summer camps, highlighting their successful track record for building powerful Jewish commitment in young Jews, ensuring future Jewish continuity. FJC works with more than 150 camps, 70,000 campers, and 12,000 counselors across North America.

FJC is a dynamic organization that consistently receives funder inquiries to develop programs in support of our mission:

Grant Proposals: At FJC grant writers work collaboratively with the program and fundraising staff and participate in an iterative process to develop project and program proposals that reflect both the interests of the funder and the needs and objectives of FJC.

Grant Reports: Grant writers are expected to work independently to synthesize information received from the relevant program staff into a cohesive grant report. Creation of grant reports is a collaborative process and the grant writer will be expected to revise draft versions until the grant report has been approved by the appropriate FJC staff person for submission to the funder.

Candidates interested in working with FJC must have a proven track record in grant and report writing and prior experience working with non-profit organizations. Grant writers must be able to adhere to deadlines, and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints. Grant writers for FJC must be able to create documents that are consonant with FJC language, brand, and tone.

Grant writers selected by FJC to be part on the contract list will be briefed about FJC’s mission and the scope of our work. Contract grant writers will also be provided with examples of prior grants in order to learn more about the organization, its functions and its needs. All contract grant writers will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement. In order to remain in FJC’s contractor directory, grant writers need to have the flexibility to work when called upon.

Those interested in this opportunity should submit a resume, samples of their work and salary requirements. Interested candidates should also provide information about their availability to work on a contract basis.
