Publication ad sales (Atlanta)

Atlanta based publishing company (6 titles) wants to hire an experienced sales professional for the Account Director position. The Account Director will sell ad space in the company's publications to potential clients. Position is full time.

Requirements:
-Must be a self starter with the ability to work well independently and with no direct supervision.
-Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
-Must be able to sell in this economic climate where many businesses are watching their ad spending.
-Must be confident in your ability to sell an intangible product with enthusiasm and be able to get decision makers excited and interested.
-Should know the importance of following up with prospects.
-Should have the ability (or be willing to learn) to "ask for" and close a sale.
-Must be able to research for prospects through varying mediums.
*Knowledge of Atlanta businesses, geography, and event venues a plus.
*Previous sales experience is required.

Duties of Account Managers:
-Set appointments with prospective clients (call and/or email them).
-"Cold call" businesses by visiting locations on foot.
-Determine which businesses are currently advertising.
-Keep and update daily sales logs in Excel or Word and share with Publisher.
-Sell "concept ads" (ie. selling prospect on an angle for their ad).
-Work during regular business hours (Mon-Fr between 9-6).

Pay will be based on commission. 25% of ad cost, paid weekly.

Areas of sales focus and distribution includes (but is not limited to):
Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Midtown, VA-Highlands, Vinings, Cobb County
