Environmental Science Writer/Editor (Contract) (Telecommute)

Consulting firm seeks experienced science writer/editor for short-term projects. Develop communication pieces (reports, brochures, web content) related to ocean science and resource management. Must be skilled in distilling dense, jargon-filled scientific materials into engaging, reader-friendly prose for non-scientific audiences. Ability to quickly understand complex scientific information, conduct background research, and work effectively under short deadlines. You would be a contractor and could telecommute from anywhere in New England but must be available for occasional meetings in the Boston area. Knowledge of marine ecology, resource management, oceanography, fisheries, coastal environmental issues, marine policy, and/or land-use planning preferred. Must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Projects include a mix of writing and editing. Design/layout experience a plus.
