Job Description: Bid Specialist, Proposal Writer/Editer
Reports to:
Senior Manager, Sales Support
*An ideal position for someone that has 3 years experience in an entry-level role and is ready to move into a mid-level position!
Job Summary:
Manage the proposal development process, develop, write and edit responses to requests for proposal, sales collateral material, and other marketing documents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include
•Writes quality responses to requests for proposal and generic proposals including researching answers required to respond the RFPs
•Works with business development personnel to highlight our features and benefits for prospective and current customers
•Ensures proposal messaging is consistent with marketing key messages
•Manages the proposal development process and proposal team to ensure timely proposal completion including; acting as primary point of communication within the proposal development process; establishing and managing timelines and deliverables; scheduling meetings, taking and distributing meeting notes; coordinating with the pricing team; producing the final document and ensuring that the proposal is submitted to client according to established deadlines and delivery methods.
•Leads conference calls/meetings with multiple levels of management and expertise; keeps calls on topic and ensures appropriate sales strategy is developed
•Ensures proposals, supporting materials and client-facing documents are for accuracy (grammar, style, continuity and content)
•Proof reads and edits proposals and business development/marketing materials, as needed, to improve clarity, accuracy and readability
•Ensures documents and presentations follow the corporate style
•Works in a team environment consisting of other writers, project managers, and graphic artists
•Supports research and analysis needs of marketing and business development in direct support of an request for proposal
•Researches and creates new answers for the library
•Prepares appropriate exhibit materials for proposals and other business development/marketing projects
•Provides proposal production support
•Meets all required deadlines on reports and special projects assigned by Senior Manger, Sales Support
•Assumes and performs other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position.
Transferable Skills (Competencies)
•Proofreading and strong command of the English language, grammar, and sentence structure.
•Excellent writing skills.
•Strong ability to listen and translate sales strategies into a compelling written message.
•Tremendous attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
•Self motivated.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, marketing or business preferred.
•2-3 years proposal editing and writing preferred.
•Atlanta-based preferred.
•Travel industry preferred.
•Exceptional experience with MS Word.
•Experience with StyleWriter preferred.
•Experience with Pragmatech products preferred.
•Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
•Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, cross-functional international teams.
•Capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines.
•Ability to work overtime as needed.
