OVERVIEW:
CFO sought for a rapidly growing, value-added professional services business, with multiple specialty divisions. Position reports into the CEO, with a dotted-line to the COO. CFO provides strategic and operational leadership and control over all financial aspects of the business. Works closely with the Division Presidents, who meet their respective clients’ needs with talented resources, supported by “best practices”. Core operation is the delivery of project services and professional staff augmentation. Through 2008, company is projected to have close to 1,000 employees, operate over half-a-dozen offices, and record total revenues approaching $100 million. Organization is regarded as a great place to work and has high employee retention.
DESCRIPTION:
CFO for fast growing, privately-owned, business-to-business service provider. Head-quartered northeast of Atlanta, towards Duluth, Georgia. CFO’s key role is to provide financial leadership in this client-centric, multiple industry environment that is marked by rapid growth and expanding specialty divisions. Manages all historical accounting, all internal and external financial reporting, all tax and treasury needs, plus all related processes and their continuous improvements. The CFO is a key member of the Executive Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to the CEO, with a dotted-line to the COO and the Division Presidents
- Lead the accurate, timely accounting and reporting of periodic financial results
- Perform analysis of operating profitability and variances from plan for management
- Establish all periodic budget and cashflow planning, forecasting and financial analysis
- Direct preparation of rolling three-year financial plan for corporate and divisions
- Develop performance metrics, as part of management’s operating “dashboard”
- Manage customer processes over high-volume, small transactions; maximize efficiencies
- Provide leadership over all core accounting functions, including: internal controls, accounting procedures, accounting systems applications, compliance, tax planning, internal, external, and tax audits, and financial statements preparation
- Perform hands-on accounting tasks, as necessary
- Direct all financial activities and set and administer related policies and procedures
- Enhance relations with financial institutions, investors, and key vendors in leading presentations and negotiations
- Provide key input over the review and execution of acquisitions or dispositions
- Establish the businesses financial strategies, with input from the Executive Team
- Perform the internal “blocking and tackling”, using outside experts over audit, tax
compliance and planning, risk management and treasury
- Lead the financial organization in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning,
assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; resolving conflicts
- Maintain a repository of industry expertise resources as related to “best practices”
- Initiate, supervise, and assist in special projects for the CEO and the management team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Master’s degree is a plus
- Fifteen-to-25 years in accounting, budgeting, and analysis
- Eight-to-15 years as a CFO, or corporate VP-Finance, in a high-volume business
- Professional services experience required; multi-locations and specialty divisions a plus
- Experience in both industry and public accounting, to supervising senior, is desired
- An understanding of operations and what affects profitability and cashflow is a must
- A thorough “hands-on” approach to tackling issues; a current CPA certificate is a plus
- Systems conversions and reengineering processes over volumes of small transactions
- Use of Microsoft server ERP applications, such as Lawson, Great Plains, and JD Edwards
- Facility in creating periodic and ad hoc profitability “drilldowns” and “3D” reports
- Familiarity with financial issues within a private, sales-driven, client-centric organization
- Aptitude for working within a small, tight-knit executive team
- Effective communication skills in dealing with groups ranging from reports to the public
- Organization, supervision, time-management skills; can motive, plus "hire and fire"
- Excellent Excel spreadsheet, MS Office, and report-writing skills
- Must have a good sense of humor under pressure and enjoy having fun at work
- Strong references are anticipated
