The Sr. Manager of Technical Writing oversees the development and implementation of customized reference materials for all Operations staff. End products include but are not limited to: system user manuals, system release updates, standard operating procedures manuals, client program updates and product updates. Coaches writers and client subject matter experts in creating communications strategy and implementation plans. Mentors writers and client subject matter experts in creating user friendly materials using recognized best practices especially metacognitive processes such as information mapping.
• Must be highly organized with the ability to meet fast paced deadlines. Needs to influence little or leverage other project partners from other departments who have competing goals in order to produce the best possible product mitigating safety and quality risks as well as operational rework.
• Work with IT, Operations Support , Marketing, Account Management and other business partners to determine need and best solutions.
• Create necessary document development processes including SOPs, project plans, schedules and performance criteria.
• Manage all HR and administrative processes.
• Edit department produced materials and coach writers on best practices including information mapping, coherence, contiguity, modality and redundancy.
• Drive department strategy and enhancements to increase success and client satisfaction.
• Lead cross functional teams to install new communication projects.
• Develop and manage department budgets.
• Develop and deploy communication plans for new business, training or performance improvement projects.
• Define, develop and maintain reporting to measure project and product effectiveness.
• Ability and willingness to champion the needs of associates against time and cost objectives to support performance goals while meeting project requirements.
