Recruiting new writers of experimental music blog (Brooklyn/France)

After only a few months up and running, Visitation Rites is looking to expand its team of contributors in response to a rapidly growing readership. We are launching a new, bilingual website this spring, and are looking for French and English language music writers who like what we are doing and would like to help us build our site into something really special.

A little bit about Visitation Rites:

Visitation Rites is a bilingual online magazine that aims to bridge the gap between the experimental, psychedelic, folk, drone, and out music communities of North America and Europe. It provides up-to-date coverage of music makers worldwide, and attempts, wherever it can, to ground its reflections in a wider social, political, and philosophical context. Visitation Rites publishes reviews, interviews, and portraits in English and French, and features passionate and articulate voices from both sides of the Atlantic.

To apply, email emfriedlander@gmail.com with a brief description of your background as a writer and music lover, a short writing sample, and an idea for your first contribution to Visitation Rites, be it a record review, a portrait, an interview, or mock Adornean critique of your favorite noise band. Applications will be considered in both English and French.

Arts Sales Expert Needed to Expand our Market (Chicago and the North Shore)

An established contemporary artist in Milwaukee, WI is looking for someone with expertise in art sales and marketing to introduce her art to the Chicago market. The artist intimately knows and understands the merchandise mart and has previously sold her art to many of Chicago's elite. The artist already has her own gallery in downtown Milwaukee and her art is displayed in a prominent Milwaukee restaurant and a large, high-end home furnishings boutique. The artist works in a unique contemporary abstract style, doing paintings primarily, but also some furniture and glassware.

The candidate will be responsible for developing an aggressive marketing plan, targeting restaurants, interior design firms, public spaces, commercial and business offices, hotels, and residential clients. Professional photography, website, and gallery already in place-- it's up to you to put together a marketing plan and materials and make a connection with the Chicago audience. The goal is to get the artwork placed and recognized in as short of a period of time as possible.

The ideal candidate is based in the Chicago area with 10+ years in art sales and marketing and/or interior design. Relevant work experience that shows breadth and knowledge of the Chicago design world at large will be looked at closely. ASID membership a major plus. Professional contacts (client list) will be essential to be successful in this position. Must have at least Bachelor's degree and demonstrate relevant experience. MUST be able to speak intelligently about contemporary art, thus, this is NOT exclusively a sales and marketing position. Candidate must be self-starting and have strong people skills. This position would be ideal for someone already in a full or part time position who desires extra income. Some travel to Milwaukee will be necessary. The gallery is approximately 1.5 hours northeast suburbs of Chicago, or 2 hours from The Loop.

COMPENSATION WILL BE STRICTLY COMMISSION BASED. Candidate will receive generous commission for all resulting Chicago sales. You sell art to a Chicago restaurant and it sells? You get commission. Some small paintings and glassware sell in the $275-600 range, but the strength of her collection lies in her larger paintings that range from $1200-$10,800

To apply, please send your resume and letter of interest explaining 1) why you are qualified for this position and 2) your sales experience.

Seeking an article writer skilled in photography/art/design/music/etc. (Downtown)

This is for online writing, so please make sure you're of that sort before contacting me. This will save everyone's time.

I'm looking for a couple of writers skilled in any creative discipline which include photography, graphic design, musical composition, fine art, sculpting, web design, architecture, what have you. I need someone who can write an original article, most likely on an ongoing basis, for my site http://shownd.com. The article can essentially be about anything art-related in any form; tutorial, inspiration, professional tips, advice on gear, reviews, or anything else relevant to a creative topic.

Requirements are:

-Attention to the importance of keywords and phrases for search engine optimization.
-Strong writing skills, no amateurs please.
-High degree of knowledge in your craft. This means if you're not a photographer, don't write about photography.
-Experience with web content writing.
-Previous samples to show.
-A sense of humor in your writing is appreciated, but not at all required.

What I don't want: -Resumes, long list of credentials, explanations on why you're so awesome. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking on your experience and education, I'm just one of those people that prefers to let the work speak for itself. Showing me your blog and/or your other articles published online is the best way to get my attention. -People without work. In addition to having a blog/articles, it would be nice if you have an existing portfolio of design work somewhere. That lends some credibility that you know what you're talking about as far as art.
Initially I'm looking for articles 350-450 words in length. Contact me with a couple of samples to get the ball rolling. The goal here is to establish a good relationship with someone who can maybe keep writing on a weekly basis and in turn, write longer articles for higher pay.

Email: gigs-1026523208@craigslist.org

* Compensation: $35 per article
